NAUGATUCK -- The National Alliance on Mental Illness is offeringa free program on understanding mental illness. The 12-week courseis for family members and friends of people who have a mentalillness. It is taught by NAMI-trained family members and designed togive information, insight, understanding and empowerment.
Topics include fighting stigma, working toward recovery andfinding hope.

Library offering computer tutoring
WALLINGFORD -- The Wallingford Public Library is offering free,one-on-one computer tutoring sessions through Feb. 17 on thefollowing schedule:
A--Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
A--Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Each hourlong appointment gives individuals the opportunity towork on a computer with a volunteer and learn about e-mail, onlinejob applications, Internet searching, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint andExcel.

Breakfast will celebrate birthday of Dr. Seuss
EAST HAVEN -- To celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss, a "GreenEggs and Ham" family breakfast will be served Saturday at the IrishAmerican Community Center at 9 Venice Place, by St. Patrick's DayParade Committee members.
Cost per person is $9 adult; children $6; servings begin at 9a.m. and activities will end at noon. Ticket prices will be reducedby $1 if attendees bring a new or used book to be donated to NewHaven Reads.
Lots of special activities planned for children -- such as Dr.Seuss related crafts, face painting, story-time and photographs withbreakfast, organizers said. All children must be accompanied by anadult and are encouraged to come in their favorite Dr. Seuss outfit.

Women's club accepting scholarship applications
CHESHIRE -- The Cheshire Women's Club is accepting applicationsfor $1,000 scholarships from town women.
