TAS: Tasmania ready for the "great leap forward": premier

Tasmania will become the first state to benefit from the rollout of a national high-speed
internet network.

Premier DAVID BARTLETT says a significant investment in telecommunications in the region
will herald the dawn of a range of new industries.

BARTLETT will meet Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD in Tasmania tomorrow to nut out the details
of the rollout .. expected to start by June or July.
